As Jesus was walking beside the
"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."
At once they left their nets and followed him. - Matthew 4:18-20
Welcome!
The mission of Good Shepherd's Youth Ministry is to provide our developing youth with a variety of opportunities to experience God's love. Whether it be through debate format discussions, deeper examination of movies, skits, or games, our interactive and thought provoking lessons provide our older students with a wide range of ways to examine God's presence in the world. Good Shepherd's developing Christians are encouraged to find Christ in each other and in the wonders of the world around them, look for opportunities of service, and accept God's limitless love for them. Our youth have active prayer and ministry lives and their weekly religious education lessons offer them continuous spiritual development.
Youth Ministry:
We offer a complete range of services for children from 7th through 12th grade. Religious Education is offered Sunday mornings at the 10:30 a.m. service except for on multigeneration Sundays when everyone attends the entire service together.
The Breakfast Club:
Our seventh and eighth grade students can expect morning breakfast, surprising ways to find God including games [Bible Jeopardy, Who's Line is it Anyways, The Weakest Link] ,current movies, and resources from many different sources such as the Teen Devotional Bible.
The goal of The Breakfast Club is to allow our 7th and 8th graders to explore questions of God's existence. Using contemporary movies, literature, music and other more traditional resources, we seek to provide a safe, non-competitive environment where we can walk together as we deepen our understanding of God's presence in our daily lives.
The Brunch Bunch:
Our ninth through twelfth graders can expect morning breakfast, interesting debate and discussion over current, past, and future events, and support as they face the challenges of pending adulthood.
The format for The Brunch Bunch is one of open debate and discussion. The sessions are organized around movies, concepts, or books where the characters can be evaluated and the premise of the story can be debated. We often discuss current affairs and wonder aloud where God is, in this world today.
This class was introduced in September 2005 to accommodate our growing youth ministry. The goal of the Brunch Bunch is encourage our senior students to continue their faith journey, inspire them to continue exploring their spiritual side, and to help them transition into more adult roles of leadership and responsibility within the church and their communities.
Youth Group:
With an emphasis on non-competitive and supportive relationship building, our twice monthly Youth Group meetings provide Good Shepherd's youth with social time and the opportunity to collaborate on outreach projects and ministry efforts at Good Shepherd.
